BABYMONSTER unveils the dark “PSYCHO” MV. Striking visuals spark strong fan reactions. A comeback that reignites their momentum.
After weeks of mysterious promotional buzz, YG Entertainment finally released the music video for “PSYCHO” on November 19, 2025, at 00:00 KST. The song is one of the B-sides from BABYMONSTER’s second mini album, WE GO UP, which dropped on October 10. Just 16 hours after upload, the music video immediately skyrocketed to #1 on the music trending chart with over 11 million views and nearly half a million likes. This achievement proves that the rookie group, which debuted in 2023, is capable of competing with older, more established acts. In the video, the seven members Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Rami, Rora, and Chiquita deliver intense choreography and thriller-movie-like visuals that portray the dark side hidden within everyone.
The release of “PSYCHO” further extends BABYMONSTER’s momentum following their “WE GO UP” promotions. YG Entertainment even invested in a high-budget music video for a B-side track as a gift for fans. The previous teaser featured a black-and-white poster with the words “Ever Dream This Girl?” and an image of a masked woman with red hair, and in the official poster photo, red lips with a glittery “PSYCHO” logo hinted at the dark and mysterious concept. The song blends hip-hop, dance, and rock elements, driven by a strong bassline and a catchy melody. Its lyrics reinterpret the word psycho as a form of embracing each person’s uniqueness.

Dark Concept, Asia Tour and the Meaning Behind BABYMONSTER’s Name
YG Entertainment explained that the “PSYCHO” music video presents a “nightmare” theme, a cinematic horror approach different from the bright mood of “WE GO UP”. This concept aligns with the agency’s effort to showcase another side of the members’ talents: not only can they perform cheerful pop tracks, but they can also pull off darker songs with strong character. By choosing to release a B-side music video during their Asia tour, YG aims to maintain public attention. BABYMONSTER recently kicked off their “BABYMONSTER ASIA FAN CONCERT 2025–26” fan meeting tour in Chiba, Japan, on November 15–16, and will continue to Nagoya, Tokyo, Kobe, Bangkok and Taipei. All shows have received warm responses, proving their international fanbase is growing stronger.
Another surprise surrounding “PSYCHO” is the debate about the group’s name. Many people assumed BABYMONSTER would always carry a scary monster-like concept. However, one netizen explained that the name actually refers to the monster-level talent the young members possess; they excel in vocals, rap, and dance. This opinion is supported by another netizen who emphasized that the group’s concept is versatile, experimenting with various genres to develop their skills and avoid staying in a comfort zone. Some fans praised “PSYCHO” as the most “Baemon” song because its vocal color and hip-hop style finally match the group’s identity. Others lamented that their pre-debut momentum dimmed after the release of “I Woke Up In Tokyo”, making “PSYCHO” a chance to rise again.
Overall, public reception toward the music video has been highly positive. Many were impressed by the members’ visuals, especially Ahyeon’s silver hair and the charisma of Asa, Chiquita, and Rora. Pharita’s performance and Ahyeon’s acting skills were also highlighted, while Ruka and Rora earned praise for their “killer” visuals. Several listeners even called the “PSYCHO” era the best stage for Rora and Pharita. On the other hand, some music fans teased YG for only now giving a concept that suits the group’s name, even comparing the track to Purple Kiss’s “Pretty Psycho”. Despite mixed reactions, the high view count and online excitement show that “PSYCHO” has successfully brought BABYMONSTER back into the spotlight.
As discussions grew online, many netizens focused on how “PSYCHO” finally feels aligned with the group’s identity. Some expressed relief that BABYMONSTER had at last received a concept that matches their name and talent potential.
“why did it take that long for yg to give a monster high core concept to a group called babymonster.. this suits them so much”
“People misunderstood the meaning behind the group name. It is not about the concept or what will be the music behind such group name. BABYMONSTER means at a young age all members got multi talents in vocals, rapping, etc. I didn’t say other groups are not so no shading at all.”
“ohhh wait i do remember seeing something about that but concepts like these still fit them more tbh”
“Well their concept is about them being a versatile group that can do all genre of music.”
“Yes, that’s one of the goals. It will develop the members’ talents through versatility. One can never improve if it stays in its comfort zone. These girls are vocally talented and awesome live stage performers. The growth is potential.”
A number of other commenters took a more critical tone toward YG, pointing out that previous concepts may have hindered the group’s pre-debut hype. They viewed “PSYCHO” as a much-needed turning point that finally puts the group on the right artistic trajectory.
“girl YG is just stupid are we surprised”
“This is the most baemon out of all songs they released. I liked a few of their songs, but this one suited them the most. Too bad their previous releases ruined their pre-debut momentum.”
“Same thoughts. The momentum has passed, all the excitement generated by their survival show vanished after the release of ‘I Woke Up in Tokyo’.”
“YG is finally learning to create better music videos after ages.”
Many viewers were also enamored with the members’ visuals, charisma, and on-camera presence. Ahyeon’s silver hair in particular drew widespread praise, along with the confident energy of Asa, Chiquita, and Rora. Fans also pointed out Pharita’s performance and Ahyeon’s acting as standout elements of the video.
“ASA, CHIQUITA, RORA in this era, Pharita’s acting, Ahyeon and Ruka OMG!”
“Ahyeon’s visuals with that silver hair is eye catching! Her aura is so strong! Love her outfits and look here!!”
“International Monstiez here!!! Psycho era is insane. Everything is perfect.”
“The styling and music video are crazy… the facial expressions are so well done, they look beautiful and cool. I always love Baemon.”
“This is definitely Rora and Pharita’s era.”
“Kitty AHYEON slayed so hard. She may look cute, but her charm is on fire.”
With its strong concept, polished visuals, and enthusiastic fan response, “PSYCHO” demonstrates that BABYMONSTER is increasingly discovering the musical character and artistic identity they want to establish in the K-pop industry.

Honestly, this concept fits them so well. The energy, the visuals, everything finally clicks together for BABYMONSTER
So it took YG this long to give them a proper monster concept?
I knew their pre-debut hype was wasted on those safer songs. At least they are finally on the right track. Ahyeon’s acting was surprisingly good.
Finally, right? It only took YG two years and a dozen missed opportunities to realize a group called BABYMONSTER should, you know, actually release something with a little bite. Better late than never, I suppose.
Finally, a concept that matches their name!
The MV is like a thriller movie. Pharita is really shining here, showing such a different side from their bright concepts. Thai pride!
Can’t wait to see this live in Bangkok.
Exactly! They had all this pre-debut hype and then gave us… other concepts. This is what we’ve been waiting for. Better late than never, but YG really took the long way around.
Honestly, this concept fits them so well. The energy, the visuals, everything finally clicks together
While dark concepts aren’t usually my style, I must admit the members look incredibly beautiful and powerful
Rora’s visual in that one close-up shot was like a dark angel! So much charisma, it’s breathtaking
Does anyone else feel like this is the concept they should’ve had since debut? It fits too perfectly.
Same thought. They look so much more confident here. I love it!!
Asa and Chiquita are on another level this era. Their confidence is unreal, and it shows in every frame💫
