A fan was indicted for forcibly kissing Jin.
His solo concert featured surprise BTS member appearances.
The group is preparing a 2026 full album.

A recent and unsettling incident involving BTS's eldest member, Jin, has taken a significant legal step forward, highlighting the serious consequences of crossing boundaries with celebrities. A Japanese woman in her 50s has been officially indicted by the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors’ Office for forcibly kissing Jin on the cheek. This event serves as a stark reminder of the line between fan enthusiasm and violation, sparking widespread discussion on the respect idols deserve.

The legal case, which had seen several developments, has now moved to the prosecution stage. The incident itself dates back to a joyful occasion: the “Jin Greetings” event at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul last June. This was a special hug event Jin hosted to celebrate his military discharge, where he generously offered free hugs to over 1,000 of his fans. It was meant to be a heartwarming reunion, but it was marred by the actions of one attendee.

A Timeline of the Incident Involving a Fan Forcing a Kiss on Jin

The chronology of the event is both clear and troubling. During the "hug event," a fan, identified only as 'A', took the opportunity to plant an unsolicited kiss on Jin's cheek.

The moment was captured and quickly spread online, leading to public outcry and a formal complaint from a netizen on June 19, who requested an investigation under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act.

The Songpa Police Station took up the case, booking 'A' and launching a formal investigation. However, the path to indictment was not straightforward. The investigation was temporarily suspended in March, partly because the suspect's whereabouts were unknown and she was reportedly unable to attend an interrogation at the time.

The case gained momentum again when 'A' later appeared voluntarily for questioning. After concluding that the allegation of forcible molestation was valid, the police transferred the case to the prosecution in May, leading to the recent indictment without detention.

Jin's reaction at the time was one of visible surprise, and the incident cast a shadow over what was supposed to be a purely celebratory fan meeting, underscoring the vulnerability idols can face even in controlled environments.

Jin Concludes His Solo Concert Performances

In beautiful contrast to that difficult memory, Jin recently showcased his incredible artistry and the unbreakable bond of BTS through his highly successful solo activities. He triumphantly concluded his four-month-long fan concert tour with the '#RUNSEOKJIN_EP.TOUR_ENCORE' encore show at Incheon Munhak Stadium.

The tour, which traveled through multiple countries, was a testament to his "challenge" spirit and deep connection with ARMY. The finale was a powerful 2-hour-and-20-minute spectacle featuring 20 songs, including passionate performances of "Running Wild," "I’ll Be There," "With the Clouds," and "Falling."

The concert was made even more memorable by surprise appearances from his fellow BTS members. J-Hope and Jungkook suddenly appeared on stage, sending the crowd into a frenzy as they joined Jin for a lively performance of his viral hit "Super Tuna."

J-Hope charmingly noted, "Since Jin came to my concert, I felt it was only right and polite to come here," highlighting their mutual support.

The surprises didn't end there. The following night, V and Jimin made special guest appearances. In a moment that became a viral "K-drama" scene, an emotional V was comforted by Jin after his performance. Jin, playing the piano for his ballad "I Will Come To You," spontaneously invited a teary-eyed V to sit nearby, resulting in a shot that fans lovingly compared to a dramatic drama serenade. This heartwarming display of friendship perfectly illustrated the group's tight-knit bond.

Meanwhile, as Jin concludes his solo tour, the focus for the group shifts to the future, with BTS actively preparing for their highly anticipated full-group album comeback slated for next spring in 2026.

Omo, reading this makes me so angry and sad for Jin oppa. He was just trying to have a sweet moment with ARMYs. I hope he’s okay and knows we truly support him! :purple_heart:

I’m glad the case finally moved forward because idols deserve real protection, not excuses. How do you think this will impact future fan events?

Jin’s encore concert?! That setlist was pure fire. “Super Tuna” with Hobi and JK? A cultural reset, honestly.

No mames! You’re absolutely right. Finally, some real consequences. As a producer, I think this sets a crucial precedent. Future events? Promoters will definitely tighten security, maybe more barriers, no-cheek-policy briefings, or even trained staff closer to the artists. It’s a shame it has to be that way, but artists like Jin deserve to feel safe, not like they’re part of some chaotic remix. Good music can’t flow from a place of stress, you know?
