Young, rich, and unstoppable.
A $9.3M villa in Hannam-dong paid in full.
Jang Wonyoung defines K-pop’s new ambition.

At just 21, IVE’s Jang Wonyoung continues to prove she is one of the most successful young idols in K-pop. Korean media reported that the 2004-born star recently purchased a luxury villa in the exclusive UN Village area of Hannam-dong, Seoul, which is home to top celebrities and business elites. The property is valued at 13.7 billion KRW, which equals over USD 9.3 million (around IDR 190 billion) at the current exchange rate.

The news immediately sparked huge public attention. Many praised how Wonyoung, despite her young age, managed to afford one of Seoul’s most expensive properties without any mortgage. On social media, fans and netizens alike commended her work ethic and smart financial decisions.

A Stunning Villa and Public Reactions to Wonyoung’s Success

According to reports from the real estate industry and Korea’s Supreme Court Registry on November 12, Jang Wonyoung purchased a 244-square-meter unit at Lucid House, located in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. She completed the ownership registration last month, confirming that the purchase made in March was done entirely in cash, as no mortgage was listed in the property record.

Her agency, Starship Entertainment, responded briefly to Daily Sports: “It’s difficult to confirm as this is a personal matter, but we understand that the house was purchased so that her family can live together.”

Lucid House is a premium residential project by Daerim D&I, a company established by Lee Hae-seong, a third-generation member of the DL Group conglomerate. The complex comprises just 15 units across two buildings, each offering 24-hour security, private elevators, and breathtaking views of the Han River and Namsan Mountain. The area, UN Village, is famously home to many high-profile residents, including actress Kim Tae Hee and singer-actor Rain, who once lived there before marriage.

The purchase not only reflects Wonyoung’s remarkable financial success but also her devotion to her family, as reports noted that she bought the property with the intention of living there with them. Fans praised her for being grounded and responsible despite her fame, viewing the decision as a touching gesture of gratitude to her parents.

Wonyoung’s rise has been meteoric. She first gained fame after winning Produce 48 in 2018 and debuting as the center of IZ*ONE at just 13 years old. After the group disbanded, she re-debuted with IVE under Starship Entertainment in 2021. IVE’s debut track Eleven became an instant hit, earning 13 music show trophies and multiple grand prizes (Daesangs) in their debut year, an unprecedented feat for a fourth-generation girl group. Their later hits Love Dive, After Like, and I Am further solidified their reputation as one of the top K-pop acts of their generation.

Beyond music, Wonyoung has become a global ambassador for leading luxury, fashion, beauty, and financial brands. Her elegance, intelligence, and professionalism have earned her the title of “The It Girl of 4th Gen K-pop.”

The revelation of her luxury villa ownership quickly dominated X (Twitter), with thousands of comments filled with admiration and humor:

“Wonyoung buying a Hannam-dong villa in cash, success speaking louder than any chart ever could.”

“She got won and young.”

“Not shocked. THE Jang Wonyoung is loaded af. You go girl 💰👍🏻.”

“Wonyoung did well, yes my girl, she wants her own space.”

“Maybe this is the end of their dorm life… or maybe she’s investing smart in Seoul’s real estate.”

“No one should be announcing where they live though.”

“Damn, she got it like that 💸💸.”

Some users even compared her purchase to TWICE’s Momo, who recently bought a USD 3 million home:

“Didn’t Momo just buy a $3M house? Jeeze, this one’s 3x the price, she really won young.”

While opinions varied, most agreed that Wonyoung’s achievement symbolizes the new generation of K-pop idols who are independent, ambitious, and forward-thinking. Currently, IVE is gearing up for their second world tour, Show What I Am, which will span Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

As a college student barely affording rent, I’m curious, what do you think keeps someone like Wonyoung so focused at that age?

No mortgage at 21? Starship must be paying her well  Or maybe those luxury brand deals are more lucrative than we thought. Either way, she’s playing the game smart.

Redefining? Let’s be real. It just confirms the insane money in this industry if you’re the It Girl. I wonder how many brands paid for that villa. Still, you can’t deny her business sense.

A villa in Hannam-dong? That’s a far cry from a K-pop dorm, I’ll tell ya that. Good for her. Bet the rent’s a bit steeper than my place in Dublin!
