Park Bom sues YG founder Yang Hyun Suk.
The lawsuit claims fraud and embezzlement of profits.
Her agency says it cannot control her actions.
In a move that has sent shockwaves through the K-pop industry, Park Bom, the renowned main vocalist of the legendary group 2NE1, has officially filed a legal complaint against Yang Hyun Suk, the powerful founder and former CEO of YG Entertainment.
The lawsuit alleges serious financial misconduct, specifically fraud and embezzlement, creating a massive public rift between the artist and the man who once helmed her career.

Park Bom Publicly Announces Lawsuit Againts Yang Hyun Suk
The core of the lawsuit alleges that Yang Hyun Suk failed to pay Park Bom the earnings rightfully owed to her from a extensive range of her professional activities. According to the legal document, these unpaid profits stem from music releases, performances, broadcast appearances, advertisements, events, and even her songwriting and composition credits.
The most staggering detail, however, is the claimed amount of damages: a truly astronomical sum of "64272e trillion hundred million KRW" which was approximated to a mind-boggling 4.5 quadrillion US dollars. This incomprehensible figure has become a central point of discussion and confusion.
The lawsuit further states that YG Entertainment consistently failed to provide proper accounting statements or make the corresponding payments, actions which Bom claims have caused her significant and lasting financial and psychological harm.
The news broke not through an official press release, but directly from Park Bom herself via Instagram post on October 22nd. In a bold and personal appeal, she shared a photo of the formal legal complaint and wrote a poignant message directed at the public.
"To the people of Korea, please investigate what YG Entertainment did to Park Bom exactly as it is," Park Bom revealed.
This direct-from-the-artist revelation bypassed all traditional media channels, showcasing her determination to have her story heard. By taking such a public stand, she has placed immense pressure on both Yang Hyun Suk and the legal system.
The reaction from Korean netizens was swift and largely centered on deep concern for Bom's well-being. Given her known history of mental health struggles and her current hiatus from activities, many online commentators expressed worry that this was a sign of her condition deteriorating. The sheer scale of the financial figure cited in the lawsuit fueled these concerns, with many interpreting it as a potential symptom of a deeper issue.
"This is why mental health is important."
"That's delusion. When you can't control yourself, you develop a victim complex and lash out at everyone around you. She needs treatment."
"It’s heartbreaking. If she had just stayed in the U.S., maybe her life would’ve been better... She already had depression, was prescribed Adderall for ADHD, and while it was technically a drug import issue, she got treated like some major drug criminal. After 2NE1’s disbandment and all the hate, her already fragile mental state completely broke."
"Someone close to her really needs to step in and stop her."
"I hope she gets proper treatment and finds happiness again."

Park Bom's Agency Responds
In the wake of the shocking announcement, Park Bom's current agency, D-Nation Entertainment, was forced to address the situation. Their response highlighted a clear lack of prior knowledge and an apparent inability to manage the artist's independent actions.
"Park Bom is beyond our control as well. We are currently looking into the details of her lawsuit against Yang Hyun Suk," a representative from D-Nation responded.
This admission underscores the complex and challenging position the agency finds itself in, managing an artist who has taken such a significant legal step independently. They confirmed they are now scrambling to understand the full scope of the lawsuit, emphasizing, "We are currently looking into the details."
This legal battle marks a dramatic turn in a career that has been full of highs and lows. Park Bom debuted under YG Entertainment with 2NE1 in 2009, quickly rising to international fame as part of one of K-pop's most iconic girl groups. However, the group entered a long hiatus after 2014, and in November 2016, YG Entertainment officially announced 2NE1's disbandment.
The years following were difficult for Bom, who faced intense public scrutiny and cyberbullying. In a triumphant moment for fans, the original four members of 2NE1, including Bom, reunited for a performance at Coachella in 2022 and subsequently embarked on reunion tours, with their most recent performance being at Waterbomb Busan 2025 in July.
However, in August, D-Nation announced that Bom would be halting all activities, explaining, “After receiving medical advice recommending sufficient rest and stability, we made the difficult decision, following deep discussions, that she would not participate in upcoming schedules.”
As of now, Yang Hyun Suk has remained silent, offering no public response to the serious allegations leveled against him.

My heart just breaks for Park Bom. To go through all of that hate and now this legal battle… I hope she has a good support system

Finally, someone is taking on Yang Hyun Suk directly. I always knew there was more to the story after 2NE1’s messy disbandment

But wait, can we really trust this? Her mental health issues are public knowledge. Is this a real lawsuit or just her being unstable? Something feels off
I just want her to be happy and healthy again, surrounded by peace and love. Hope 2NE1’s members supports her

My heart is breaking with yours, unnie

This is such a difficult and confusing situation for everyone
Whatever the truth may be, I just want Bom unnie to find peace and be surrounded by people who can help her heal. Her well-being is the most precious thing
I wonder if 2NE1 members will speak up for her this time. Would they risk getting involved?
Honestly, I’m not sure what to think anymore. After seeing her agency’s statement, it’s getting confusing… maybe there’s more going on behind the scenes than we realize.
Probably not publicly, but I’m sure they’re checking on her privately.
This whole thing breaks my heart. Park Bom gave so much to K-pop, and to see her like this now is really painful. I just hope someone close to her helps her heal properly
I get what you mean… I was shocked too when I first saw it. But after her agency spoke up, I’m kinda confused now
I just hope she’s okay and not being misunderstood again.
