Shuhua revealed a serious back injury.
She now needs a wheelchair sometimes.
Fans worldwide sent their strong support.
The recent two-day concert for i-dle in Kobe, Japan, was meant to be another spectacular showcase for the globally adored quintet. However, the event became a source of significant worry for fans, known as Neverland, as Shuhua, delivered a heartbreakingly honest speech about her current physical state.
Shuhua, known for her bright energy, revealed she is battling a severe health issue that has drastically impacted her ability to perform and move freely.

Shuhua's Injury and Immense Effort
Beyond the powerful stages and fan interactions that defined the Kobe concert, all eyes were on Shuhua and her noticeably limited movements. The Taiwanese idol bravely opened up to the audience, explaining that she is suffering from intense back pain that has recently worsened to a critical degree.
The condition is so severe that she has needed to use a wheelchair for support off-stage. Throughout the performance, Shuhua visibly struggled, pushing through the pain to fulfill her duties to the fans. The injury even prevented her from performing a proper bow at the concert's conclusion, a fundamental and respectful gesture in Korean culture. This physical limitation is a clear indicator of the pain she is enduring.
In a move that further highlighted her difficult situation, Shuhua shared a deeply personal detail about her treatment. She revealed that the medication required for her back issue has a known side effect of weight gain.
To preemptively manage this and to reduce future strain on her back, as excess weight can exacerbate spinal problems, she has been intentionally losing weight in advance. Shuhua pleaded for fans understanding, asking them not to worry if she appears thinner and assuring them it is a calculated part of her recovery process.
Profusely apologizing for not being able to give her best performance, she also made a special request to fans. She asked them not to feel sad if they see her fellow members, Minnie or Yuqi, looking concerned for her on stage, as it would "break her heart even more" to feel responsible for their sadness.

An Outpouring of Support and Understanding from Fans
Shuhua's condition did not escape the sharp and caring eyes of fans, who quickly took to online forums to express their concern and support. The revelation clarified earlier sightings and fueled discussions about the seriousness of her ailment, with many netizens speculating, based on the symptoms and medication side effects, that she might be dealing with a herniated disc.
The online reaction was a mix of heartbreak for her pain and admiration for her strength.
"Shuhua probably had such severe waist pain that she couldn’t help but cry in the end, and during the final bow she couldn’t even bend down. They mentioned that in a video she was seen holding onto the railing for support while stepping off the platform, although I couldn’t find that video; she really didn’t seem well."
"How can she even stand on stage with a disc like that? That alone is amazing, she must be in so much pain…"
"I also got injections and took medication for a disc problem and gained 20 kilos… It hurts so much, and the weight gain makes it worse. I can’t even exercise."
"Health comes first, don’t even think about dieting."
"She must’ve lost weight in advance because gaining weight puts more pressure on the disc. That’s tough."
Despite her body being "exhausted," as she stated, and her inability to greet fans properly after the show, Shuhua's spirit and professionalism shone through. Her heartfelt apologies and explanations were met with an overwhelming wave of love and pleas for her to prioritize her health above all else.
In a beautiful contrast to this challenging period, Shuhua recently had a moment of personal pride as she was officially appointed as a tourism ambassador for her hometown, Taoyuan in Taiwan. She expressed her honor and joy in promoting the region's beauty, a bright spot for her and her fans amidst her health struggles.

Back pain is a fierce beast. She should take a proper break, have a cuppa, and rest up. Health is wealth, as we say.
Reading this feels like a poignant drama scene. Her bravery in sharing this pain is truly moving. I hope she gets a peaceful rest period.
I agree completely. Her honesty about her struggle was so moving. True strength is knowing when to prioritize your health
That’s very wise advice. A proper rest is the best medicine for a proper recovery. I hope she takes the time she needs.
As someone who’s had a disc problem myself, I know how brutal that pain is. Seeing her perform like that is nothing short of heroic.
Totally agree. As someone with a disc problem too, rest is the best medicine, she really needs to slow down and heal💜
Get well soon Shuhua!
