S.Coups and Mingyu are breaking records worldwide.
Their album sold six hundred thousand copies instantly.
A viral MV moment stunned all their fans.

SEVENTEEN's dynamic duo, S.Coups and Mingyu, have officially stepped into the spotlight as the group's newest special unit, sending waves of excitement through the fandom. Marking a significant moment for the group's structure, this pairing is notably the first unit composed exclusively of members from the hip-hop team. Their debut isn't just a treat for fans, it's a powerful statement of their individual artistry and chemistry, proving that even within the massive ensemble of SEVENTEEN, unique pairings can offer a fresh and compelling sound. The anticipation for this unit had been building for months, finally culminating in a release that has captivated listeners and shattered records right out of the gate.

While many unit debuts are successful within their existing fanbase, S.Coups and Mingyu have managed to achieve something truly extraordinary, transcending typical expectations and posting numbers that would be impressive even for a full-group comeback. Their immediate impact across both physical and digital platforms demonstrates a potent mix of dedicated fan support and genuine public interest, setting a new high bar for what a sub-unit from the group can accomplish.

S.Coups x Mingyu Sell a Staggering 600,000 Copies on First Day

S.Coups and Mingyu have officially launched their first mini-album, 'HYPE VIBES,' and the commercial response has been nothing short of phenomenal. According to Hanteo Chart data, the album sold an incredible 600,575 copies on its very first day of release. This monumental figure instantly propelled them to the number one spot on Hanteo's daily album chart, a rare and impressive feat for any unit, solidifying their status as a "half-million seller" from day one.

But their dominance wasn't confined to South Korea. The album showcased formidable global power, seizing the No. 1 position on iTunes' 'Top Album' charts in 11 different countries and regions. It also made a strong entry at 6th place on the Worldwide Album Chart.

Further cementing their influence in the Greater China region, 'HYPE VIBES' earned a prestigious Double Gold Certification on QQ Music, China's largest music platform, an honor awarded for surpassing 500,000 yuan in sales. The title track, "5, 4, 3 (Pretty Woman)," also saw its popularity soar, hitting No. 1 on the Bugs real-time chart and charting all of the album's tracks on Melon's 'Top 100,' while also entering iTunes' 'Top Song' charts in 16 diverse countries, from Spain to Egypt.

Mingyu's Viral 'Making Out' Scene Sends CARATs into a Frenzy

Alongside the album, the music video for "5, 4, 3 (Pretty Woman)" was released, offering a visual feast that perfectly complements the track's upbeat disco sound, which cleverly interpolates Roy Orbison’s classic hit "Oh, Pretty Woman."

While fans were utterly captivated by the sharp visuals and charismatic performances of both idols, a particular scene featuring Mingyu quickly became the undisputed focal point of online discussions.

In the sequence, Mingyu is seen walking with purpose before being abruptly pulled out of the frame by an unseen force, only to reappear moments later with his clothes and hair charmingly disheveled, as if he was just in the middle of a spontaneous "making out" session.

This clever and playful edit sent CARATs (SEVENTEEN's fandom) into a collective meltdown, with social media platforms flooding with reactions, screenshots, and good-humored disbelief over the unexpected and cheeky moment.

"if u told me last year that mingyu would be making out with a woman off screen in the new comeback video i would have laughed in ur face," fan commented on X.

"Mingyu making out with a woman in the MV was not on my bingo card," another replied.

The formation of this unit was first hinted at back in July 2025, when reports initially surfaced about the potential pairing. At the time, the news was met with cautious excitement, with the industry eagerly awaiting confirmation.

In response to the initial report, PLEDIS Entertainment offered a characteristically brief but telling statement.

“It’s difficult for us to confirm anything at this time," said PLEDIS Entertainment that time.

This non-denial only fueled further speculation and anticipation, which has now been spectacularly rewarded with the 'HYPE VIBES' release. As for what's next, S.Coups and Mingyu is set to bring their high-energy performance to the stage for the very first time on October 2nd on Mnet's 'M Countdown,' officially kicking off their promotional activities and giving fans a live look at the powerful synergy that is already taking the world by storm.

The lyrics of ‘5,4,3’ feel so heartfelt, like a K-drama confession scene. S.Coups and Mingyu expressed it beautifully

600k sales on day one? Expected nothing less from SEVENTEEN. That Mingyu scene though… was that really necessary?
