Park Min-young returns with Confidence Man KR, a caper drama streaming globally. Her slim figure at the press conference sparks fans’ concern online. From romcom queen to bold transformation, she takes on a genius con artist role.

Actress Park Min-young has officially returned to the screen with TV CHOSUN’s newest drama Confidence Man KR. Unlike her usual image as the “queen of romantic comedies,” this time she takes on a caper role that is both bold and intriguing. She plays Yoon Yi-rang, the leader of a con artist team with an IQ of 165, a genius brain, and complex manipulative traits.
The series is adapted from the successful Japanese version Confidence Man JP and is now presented in Korea under the direction of Nam Ki-hoon (Casino, Voice 3) and screenwriter Hong Seung-hyun (Criminal Minds). Beyond airing on TV CHOSUN, the drama is also being produced as an Amazon Original and will be released in over 240 countries through Amazon Prime Video, as well as on Coupang Play. With this lineup, Confidence Man KR is being positioned as a large-scale global project with the potential to become an international hit.
Park Min-young herself admitted that the role was a big challenge. “No one can predict box office results. But since this is Amazon’s first global production in Korea, it felt like an opportunity I couldn’t miss,” she said. She added that her character allowed her to be more dynamic, unlike many of her past roles where she was often portrayed as the victim.
Meanwhile, co-star Park Hee-soon shared that the series is filled with unique characters that will likely give rise to countless memes and iconic moments. Confidence Man KR is set to premiere on September 6 at 9:10 PM KST.
Park Min-young’s Slim Figure Sparks Concern

While the public is excited for her comeback, Park Min-young’s physical appearance at the Confidence Man KR press conference on September 1 at Hotel Stanford, Seoul, became a hot topic. She appeared elegant in a nude-toned beige dress, but her noticeably slimmer figure drew concern among fans.
Reactions from netizens quickly spread across social media:
“Park Min-young is so skinny, like one of those super slim cartoon characters.”
“Park Min-young looks way too skinny, almost like she’s malnourished. It’s scary to see.”
“Her best body proportion was during What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim. Maybe she’s on a diet now or it’s for the role, guys.”
“Min-young, you’re so beautiful, but this is too skinny—looks like you might get blown away by the wind.”
“She looks much slimmer now, but still gorgeous. I just hope she stays healthy.”
“Why is Min-young so skinny???”
“She’s so tiny, almost collapsing in that second pic 😭.”
“Oh my gosh, Min-young, please eat, it’s all bones 😭.”
“What’s wrong, Min?? 😱.”
Although many expressed worry, others continued to show support, praising her beauty while hoping for her good health.
From Romcom Queen to Versatile Actress
Park Min-young first debuted in the 2006 sitcom High Kick Through the Roof. She rose to fame with Sungkyunkwan Scandal and solidified her reputation as the queen of romcoms with hits like What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, Her Private Life, and Marry My Husband.
Now, with Confidence Man KR, she’s stepping out of her comfort zone to showcase a darker, more intriguing side of her acting. The production team even hinted that audiences will once again be impressed by Park Min-young’s performance, as well as the styling and transformations that will serve as highlights of the show.
Yet, alongside her professional transformation, her visibly slim figure has become a point of discussion. Fans are hoping it is merely part of the role’s demands rather than a health issue.
With this comeback, Park Min-young is proving that she’s not only a romcom icon but also a fearless actress ready to expand her acting range on the global stage.

I remember her so well in ‘Marry My Husband’ and now this transformation! Unnie, please stay healthy, we need you for many more years!
Fighting!
She’s definitely too thin. Something’s going on, maybe stress? I hope it’s just for the role and not another case of agency pressure
Park Hee-soon and Park Min-young walking in together like that, such a powerful visual duo. They already give off strong ‘Confidence Man’ vibes!
Her acting transformation is impressive, but I’m truly concerned about her health. She has lost so much weight since her last drama. I hope she is taking care of herself.
It’s a sensitive topic, but as longtime fans, we notice these changes
I also really hope it’s a personal choice for the character and that her agency supports her wellbeing
Right?! My heart did a little flip when I saw that picture!
They look like they just stepped out of a movie, so much power and chemistry. You can just tell they’re going to be an iconic duo on screen. I can’t wait to see their scenes together!
If you could pick, would you rather see her in another romantic comedy or continue with these darker, transformative roles?
She’s still beautiful and always charming! But I can’t lie. I feel sad seeing this transformation
Why are female celebrities in South Korea pressured to be that skinny? Come on, it’s not healthy
A con artist leader with IQ 165? That sounds so cool! Hope the plot is as smart as her character. Will definitely check this out!
Honestly, a mix of both would be perfect. But I love this new side of her. It’s refreshing and shows her range.
I’m actually excited to see her step out of romcom roles. A genius con artist sounds like such a fresh character for her!
