Their names echoed louder than scripts this July.

The July 2025 actor brand reputation rankings came with a twist no one saw coming. Released by the Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute, the monthly chart measured media coverage, consumer interest, and community buzz from June 22 to July 22. Leading the pack is a rising star who managed to outshine Korea’s biggest names. Here's a look at the top three Korean actors who ruled the month.

1. Choo Young-woo (7,694,868 points)

A rookie no more. Choo Young-woo topped the list with two back-to-back hits—Head Over Heels and The Trauma Code: Heroes On Call—showcasing a unique blend of emotional range and grounded intensity. His role as trauma doctor Yang Jae-won won him Best New Actor at the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards (July 18), a moment many fans considered a long-overdue recognition. He’s also set to appear in the historical drama The Tale of Lady Ok, where he reportedly trained in horseback riding, archery, and gugak (traditional Korean vocals) to prepare for the role.

His rise didn’t go unnoticed on social media. A Reddit user wrote, “He went from someone I barely knew to my most anticipated actor of 2025. His range is no joke.” On X, a fan commented, “Choo Young-woo owns this year. From acting to awards to interviews—he’s hungry, and it shows.”

2. Lee Jung-jae (7,050,788 points)

Despite being bumped to second place, Lee Jung-jae remains one of Korea’s most respected names. His return in Squid Game 3 was heavily anticipated, and although the season received mixed reviews, most agreed that his portrayal of Seong Gi-hun remained the emotional core. Some viewers on Reddit noted the season felt “rushed and overly ambitious,” but still praised Lee’s presence. His status as a producer and director has also expanded his appeal in and beyond Korea.

Fans had mixed but passionate takes. One Twitter post read, “The writing flopped, but Lee Jung-jae did what he could with what he was given. Still the king.” Meanwhile, Reddit threads debated whether the actor should “move on to stronger scripts,” but no one questioned his performance. His 93% positivity rate in public sentiment analysis proves he remains a respected figure despite a rocky script.

3. Lee Byung-hun (6,578,206 points)

Still standing strong, Lee Byung-hun secured third place with his continued presence in major productions like Squid Game 3 and the upcoming animated project K-Pop Demon Hunters. Known for his intense delivery and deep emotional control, Lee is often described by fans as “the backbone of every production he’s in.” He may not dominate social media the way younger stars do, but his consistency keeps him firmly in the top tier.

On Reddit, one user wrote, “Lee Byung-hun doesn’t chase trends. He is the standard.” Another added, “His scenes in Squid Game always feel heavier. It’s like the entire tone changes when he speaks.” While newer faces rise, Lee's legacy remains untouchable.

Final Thoughts
This month’s top 3 reflect a generational blend of rising talent and legendary consistency. Choo Young-woo’s hunger and fresh intensity are what pushed him ahead, while Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun remain symbols of longevity and mastery. The fan responses—ranging from excitement to critique—show just how engaged audiences are with Korea’s leading men. If July proved anything, it’s that the industry is evolving fast, but true craft still earns its place.

Lee Jung-jae carried Squid Game 3 despite the messy script. But Choo Young Woo topping the list? Suspicious… Did his agency buy media hits? #JustSaying

Choo Young-woo’s dedication to training for The Tale of Lady Ok—horseback riding, archery, even gugak, is so impressive! :open_mouth: This level of commitment reminds me of Park Seo-joon’s preparation for Itaewon Class. True artists never cut corners :100:

Agree with you! Why debate? Each actor brings something unique. Also, can we talk about Lee Jung-jae’s DIRECTOR glow-up? :eyes: #Respect
