A timeless icon, revisiting her youth, With memories wrapped in beats of Crazier, BoA heals, glows, and rises once more.

K-pop legend BoA has shown remarkable heart amid a difficult time. After being diagnosed with acute osteonecrosis—a serious condition caused by reduced blood flow to the bone, leading to bone tissue death—she donated ₩100 million (approximately $72,000 USD) to the Orthopedic Surgery Department at Samsung Medical Center in Seoul.
According to SM Entertainment on July 30, the donation will be used to assist orthopedic patients facing financial burdens from nonreimbursable treatments. Despite currently undergoing recovery after surgery, BoA chose to prioritize others. “She hopes this will ease the burden for those going through similar struggles,” the agency shared.
Her act of kindness immediately touched fans’ hearts. On X (formerly Twitter), fans expressed admiration and support. “Queen of kindness,” one fan wrote, while another added a heartfelt “Get well soon.”
This isn’t the first time BoA has quietly given back. She previously donated ₩100 million to support teens aging out of institutional care, joining the W Honor Society—an elite philanthropic circle for women donors. Earlier this year, on Korea’s Children’s Day (May 5), she also gave ₩50 million to Asan Medical Center to aid pediatric cancer treatment.
BoA, who debuted at age 13 with the album ID; Peace B in 2000, is now celebrating her 25th anniversary as a singer. Recently, she shared a collage on Instagram juxtaposing her debut album cover with a teaser for her upcoming album Crazier, set to release on August 4. With lighthearted reflection, she wrote:
“Makeup that made me look mature when I was young. Innocent-style makeup that made me look younger when I got older 👻”

The post was reshared by fanbase accounts on X, praising BoA’s timeless beauty and sense of humor—25 years later, she’s still radiating charm.
Concert Canceled Due to Surgery, But Crazier. Album Release Will Go On
BoA was originally scheduled to hold her fifth solo concert at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul on August 30–31 as part of her 25th debut anniversary celebrations. However, on July 29, SM Entertainment officially announced the concert’s cancellation due to the singer’s worsening health condition.
“Due to increasing knee pain, BoA has been diagnosed with acute osteonecrosis and must undergo surgery immediately,” the agency stated. She was advised to avoid strenuous physical activity, including dancing and performing, to allow for proper recovery. “We deeply apologize for this sudden announcement and ask for fans’ understanding, as this decision was made with the artist’s health as the top priority.”
Despite the setback, SM confirmed that BoA’s new album Crazier will still be released as scheduled. They also noted that any possible rescheduling of the concert will depend on her recovery progress. “We will do everything we can to ensure BoA can fully focus on healing.”
Staying connected with fans, BoA shared a preview of the special Peace B ver. edition of Crazier via her official X account (@BoA_Official). The post included an image of a plush yellow star character wearing an eye mask—perfectly capturing the dreamy and whimsical concept of the album.
Fans were overjoyed by the preview and quickly filled the replies with excitement and praise:

BoA’s dedication is inspiring. To think she debuted when I was just a kid… Wishing her a smooth recovery. The album teaser looks so dreamy!
Typical SM, pushing artists too hard. But at least BoA’s donation is sincere. Still, they better not rush her comeback. Health comes first
@NaRi_Min I get your concern, but BoA’s a legend for a reason! She knows her limits
Still, SM better give her proper rest time - we want her healthy AND slaying stages!

BoA really is like a fairy. Even when she’s unwell, she still thinks about others who are suffering. No wonder she continues to shine, even after all these years since her debut💖
